Finding a home you love is exciting. Discovering that you need a guarantor, but cannot ask a friend or family member to take on that role, can make the next step feel uncertain.
Ronke Maye has partnered with RentGuarantor to give tenants and prospective tenants another option to explore. If you have found a property you would like to rent but do not have a suitable guarantor, its professional service may be able to help you move forward.
Who might find this helpful?
Every tenant’s circumstances are different. The following examples are illustrative situations, rather than customer stories or promises of approval:
Moving for a new job. Imagine you are relocating to London and have found a flat near work. Your family lives overseas, so you do not have someone nearby who can meet the guarantor requirements. Asking about a professional guarantor early could help you understand your options before planning your move.
Starting university. You may be arranging accommodation while your parents are unable or unwilling to act as guarantors. A conversation about alternatives can help you work out what information you need and which next steps are realistic.
Renting independently. Perhaps you have found a home that suits you but would prefer not to ask relatives to take on a financial commitment. Exploring a paid service gives you another option to consider alongside your own budget.
What does RentGuarantor say?
RentGuarantor describes its purpose simply: Everyone deserves a decent home.
Its How it works guide says it supports UK and international students, employed and self-employed applicants, and people receiving benefits or pensions, subject to assessment.
The guide outlines an online quote, a credit reference check and a completed application. Applicants need personal information, proof of income and property details. The service charges fees, including an annual guarantee fee; review your personalised quote and current terms before committing. Acceptance by the landlord or agent is also required.
Speak to us before you apply
Tell the Ronke Maye team which property you are interested in and that you would like to explore RentGuarantor. We can discuss the next steps for that property so you know what to ask before submitting an application. A guarantor application does not reserve a home or guarantee a tenancy.
Bring your questions with you: what documents should you prepare, what will the service cost, and what happens if your circumstances change? Take time to read the agreement. Using a guarantor does not remove your responsibility to pay rent or other amounts you owe.
